A limited study explores emotional and behavioural health among adoloscentes living with HIV. Indonesia is not an exception.
In 2022, UNAIDS and UNICEF estimate around 2.5 millions of children and adolescents (ages 0-19) globally. Among them, 18,000 (ages 0-15) in Indonesia were living with HIV.
ART treatment allows both perinatally and behaviorally infected children and youth live longer into adulthood. Like all adolescents, youth living with HIV face the typical maturation and psychosocial challenges of childhood and adolescence. Morever, they also have a complicated experience of coping with HIV. Little research currently investigates the prevalence of emotional and behavioral health among adolescents living with HIV. Studies of identifying the key factors that shape it also very limited. The study of emotional and behavioural health among adolescents living with HIV takes up that challenges for Indonesia.
